20 October 1976
Purchase of our first Afghan Hound "Adria". She had a complete English background but she was bred in Belgium by the -at that time very well known- "De Pandjah" kennelof Mme. Fossé.
Year 1977
First appearance on a dog-show with Adria and she became first place and BOB !
Year 1978
We became member at KVW-Beringen (Kempische Vereniging voor Windhondenrennen) which is a society in Limburg, Belgium for dog-racing. We also joined the Koninklijke Belgische Windhondenclub. Adria won a lot of first prices in dog-shows that year.
Year 1979
Unexpected arrival of our first Saluki "Deidre al Hafar al Batin".
10 April 1980
Applied at the Koninklijke Maatschappij St.-Hubertus for the kennel naam "Y-Shirvan" and birthdate of the first six afghan hound puppies in our family. Adria was connected to a canadian import "Kadallah's Love Sheik" (What's in a name) and gave birth to 6 pups. Around that time we also bought two grown up Afghan Hounds, "Bachanka van Siwina" and "Blanca van Siwina". However they were from the same kennel they were no sisters. Bachanka had already done some dog-shows and won a lot of them and Blanca was not only a show-dog but also had very good racing qualities.
Blanca had even succeeded in final places on the Belgian racing championships. Official start for our show- and racing-carriere.
21 November 1981
Second breed of Afghan Hounds is born. The father of these puppies is another canadian import "Kadallah's Sunseeker", owned by Mr. Sacco , Belgium. He was an American and Canadian Show-Champion. A son of this litter was exported to Mister Pemmerl in Licassi, Zaire.
I loved the Character of their offspring. They were fast at the racing track too.
Kadallahs'Sunseeker went later to the Kennel of Catherine Faget in France. She used him several times and you can still find him back in the pedigrees of a lot of famous Kennels: Menuel Galopin, Agha Djari's....
17 December 1981
The first Saluki pups are born. The father was multiple champion "Gamara's Beloved Silver Star".
These youngster went all to pet-homes but we kept a bitch " Farady" and a male "Fakbar Y-Shirvan".
Farady Y-Shirvan became Youth European Champion '82 at Dortmund under Frau Van Tonderloo.
That same year Fakbar Y-Shirvan became Junior Champion Luxembourg. He also was very fast at the racing track and sparely we raced him with succes.
At that time, Saluki-racing in Belgium was of no importance for the normal racing fanciers. Belgium racing only concerned at that time with whippets and greyhounds.
In 1982 we bought 2 afghan Hound bitches "Bachanka van Siwina" and Blanca van Siwina". We wanted to buy only Bachanka but the owners insisted that both Bitches stayed together. So we bought Blanca too.
Later on Blanca became the foundation bitch of our afghan racing strain.
1982 was also the year that we tried our first Artificiel Insemination with sperm from the great Multiple Champion Sirokko von Katwiga who lived in Norway by Roger Höltschi. Professor Anderson from the University of Oslo and Professor Hendriks from the University in Utrecht (Netherlands) tried their best (2x) to made it a succes but sadly enough I got no pups.
Later on Frau Heidmann, the co-owner of Sirokko, offered me a youngster from a son of Sirokko but I was so disappointed that I never went for that youngster.
At that moment I gived myself a goal: elevate excellent dogs without buying bitches or dogs from other Kennels.
I thought that when I did it at that way I should always know what good and bad points where in the dogs I had. And that it would pay off later on.
It was the slowest way to get good afghans/salukis but it did.
Till 2005, I generally sticked to that and over the following 23 years I only bought 2 dogs and I didn't bought them with the intention to strengthen my Kennel (afterwarts they both seemed to be important). There was for both another reason. The first was the Saluki-male "Oray el Riad" who should put asleep otherwise.
The other was the saluki-bitch "Baruffa el Bachram" from Mr. Gilissen. Mr. Gilissen couldn't hold all his Salukis because he separated from his wife and moved to a smaller home.
Year 1982
Blanca made the selection of the European racing championship. Only the five best of each breed and sexe of each country are qualified.
She made it to the semi finals.
A lot of success with the pups from our first afghan litter on dog-shows and racing.
Big succes for Y-Shirvan salukisSunday june 22: Bundessiegerrennen 2008 in Hildesheim (Germany). Our Salukis did FANTASTIC and both male and female won the title!!!!

It is her first race-year and she competed 3 races. She won all 3 AND everytime with a new Trackrecord!!! And that on 3 different tracks!
